American Education

American and Puritan education can hardly be considered alike nowadays, as can be seen with all the differences in the way they punish, and teach.
In American education, children are not taught about religion unless it reflects the time period being studied in class. They are taught about virtually everything else except for religion, from math to geography to music. This is due to an uncompleted dream that Cotton Mather had, which justifies a separation of church and state, and therefore, a separation of religion and school. The way kids are punished also reflects the differences between the two modes of education. IN America, children are punished for bad behavior and are isolated from the class, so as to prevent further chaos. Basically, instead of teaching children what not to do, schools tend to isolate those that don't not wright from wrong.
In puritan belief, education is essential in life for it teaches children how to live exemplary lives. Almost every subject taught to children deals with religion, which lead the children into knowing only what they are taught. The way they are punished also reflects Puritan belief. IN a Puritan school, children are punished and are actually taught that their behavior is not acceptable, and are shown what behavior to adopt.
So, American and Puritan beliefs in the area of school are almost completely different for one focuses n religion and teaching children good behavior, while children in American schools are separated from others while they keep being mischievous.
