New England vs. South
The culture and economy of the New England colonies and the southern colonies differed because the New England colonies were built upon a more urban structure focusing upon religion, while the Southern colonies were built upon a more rural structure focusing upon agriculture and profit. The New England colonies were founded by Puritans, and they cared most about tradition and being good Christians above other things. There economy was not based upon agriculture, but they thrived by trading with other peoples. The Southern colonists were largely landowners that farmed for a profit. They made their money by purchasing slaves who could reproduce and make more slaves for the owner, and then the owner could sell the crop harvested by his slaves.
