Puritan vs American school system

Modern American education can hardly be compared with 17th century Puritan education. Unlike the Puritan education, all different views are taught with many different subjects being taught. It seemed as if Puritans were taught about their religion and their morals, however those are never discussed in modern day schools, in fact it is illegal at many schools to even teach religion. However, depending on the childrens parents, they have a chance to be taught more about religion, by attending a private school, but is very different still, not mainly focusing on religion. The education taught in Puritan schools now is mostly the parents responsibility to teach their children, were school is for learning of different subjects to become more intelligent.
