The Progression of American Education is Heavily Based on the Progression of American Morals and Society

American education has progressed in various many ways since the good old Puritan days. However, while making this argument one has to assess how American socety and its morals. Education in the early American colonies was based heavily on religion-that is to say parents were obligated to bring up God fearing children. Looking at modern times it is a different story.
This is down to a few things. First of all, modern day Americans subconciously view the Declaration of Independence and the The Bill of Rights differently-as actual documents that grant them rights to free-thinking. Also as the times have changed so has technology-and with this a change of morals. The media, at this point and time is pretty much on top of the world. It controls every thing and can change anything-a person's opinion on a certain subject etc. Because technology and the media is so prevalent we have moved away dramatically from the beliefs of Puritans. Free thinking has caused modern day America to question religion-and whether wrongly or rightly-each one to their own opinion-now consider religion to be like the Puritans did-strict with an angry God. They don't feel totally comfortable with this and so religion has been omitted from High school teaching.
